Making Minimalist Design Work For You

I'm a minimalist through and through. My husband is not. When we first moved into our home and I painted every single wall white, he thought I was insane. In full disclosure, I bought about 45 different varieties of white before finding the right one. So maybe I am? I love the look of a bright, white home. It forces you to really think about the design and decor you choose It allows those design choices to be the focal point and really shine. Our home still isn't where I would like it to be. Picking up design pieces is a slow (and expensive) process. We are really trying to…

    Exploring Asheville, North Carolina

We just got back from spending a long weekend in Asheville, NC to celebrate my husband’s 30th! We had a pretty amazing time – the city is just so different from most places we’ve been. We stayed in our first Airbnb, and I HIGHLY recommend looking into 80 LEX if you're visiting. The location was perfect and the design of the entire building is incredible. The food here is definitely worth going for – both being vegetarians, we’re always concerned we won’t have many options. But, we were able to find several options everywhere we went. A few recommendations: Curate, Tupelo Honey, Over Easy, Biscuit Head, Gan Shan Station. For drinks…

Converting Our Closet to a Mudroom

One of my biggest complaints when we moved into our house was the lack of a convenient place to store shoes, bags, coats, etc. The lack of a mudroom meant the clutter made it's way into our kitchen. In the photo below you'll see that we had a bifold closet as you walk in from our garage. This was actually the pantry for the kitchen. Not only did this not make sense, it meant that there was no entryway storage. (apologies for the image quality -- wasn't planning to share these at this point) In order to convert this to a mudroom, we first had to create a pantry elsewhere…

    The Before

As promised, I’m finally sharing all of the “before” photos of our new(ish) house. — Side bar: we’ve actually now been in this house for over a year and I’m not quite sure where the time went. — Before buying our house, Josh and I lived in an apartment nearby for several years. I was always dying to buy a home and spent way more time looking (dreaming) at Zillow than I’m willing to admit…..and driving Josh crazy. Last year, we finally decided we were ready to buy and kicked off the search. Naturally, every home on the market seemed to have sold and our options were pretty limited. We…

Who I Am and Why I’m Here

Hey guys! Before I dive head first into what you’re here to see, I thought I’d give you a little background on who I am. I live in Akron, OH (I know…..you’re jealous, right?)…just kidding, it’s really not that bad. I promise we don’t all live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by farm animals. We love our neighborhood and plan to stick around for the long haul. I work in communications at a Fortune 500 company in the Northeast Ohio area. I’ve been there for about five years and love my job. It’s given me a lot of the skills and knowledge that I hope to apply to…

    Welcome!

Hello….I’m Lexi! Welcome to my blog – I’m so glad you are here. This has been a longtime dream of mine, and I’m so excited to finally be here. I started this blog for several reasons – the most important being a creative outlet for my passions and a way to document and remember this time in our lives. My goal is to keep this blog focused on a few key topics: home design with a few fashion/lifestyle tips along the way. Admittedly a fairly broad range of topics, but as a self-proclaimed shopaholic, I likely won’t be able to resist sharing some of my favorite finds along the way.…
